A/V Equipment
Students may borrow the following equipment from the Library for Course related work:
Point of View cameras (available only with lecturer permission)
Radio/cassette/CD player with microphone
Digital cameras
Any material produced by the student using the borrowed equipment may only be used to satisfy Course requirements. No additional copies may be kept or published for any other purpose. The equipment is not to be used for the creation of inappropriate or offensive images.
The Institute will take action to recover any overdue equipment.
Students who lose or damage any borrowed equipment may be required to pay for its repair/replacement if there is evidence of negligence or carelessness in using the equipment.
DVD and video players are available in the Library for you to watch material pertaining to your course of study. DVDs and videos are not available for student loan.
Computers
There are computers available for students to use for study purposes within the Library. Only currently enrolled students will have access to the Student Network.
All Library computers are connected to the student printer which is located in the After Hours Access room. Printing is charged at 10 cents an A4 side. Students can add credit to their account either by using the note autoloader in the After Hours Access room or seeing staff in the Library or Bookshop.
All student computer use at SWIT is governed by the Student Use of Computers Agreement . Library student computers may only be used for course related work. They cannot be reserved or booked. Please remember to Shutdown when you are finished. You may not “lock” a computer so you can go and do something else and return to it later.
All Library computers provide access to online databases (through this webpage) and have Internet access. A wide range of software applications found in the classrooms are also available on these computers.
A scanner is also available should you require an electronic copy of any documents.
Two computers have height adjustable desks for your convenience.
Photocopying
Library materials may only be copied in accordance with the Copyright Act 1968, as amended.
A photocopier is provided for student use at 10c per A4 and 20c per A3 copy. The photocopier will also print double sided, scan, collate and staple if required.
The photocopier has a swipe card reader which will read the magnetic strip on your student ID card. To apply credit to your ID card you may either go to the Bookshop or use the Auto loader in the After Hours Access room.
Study Facilities
Study carrels, discussion tables and a reading area with lounge chairs are all available in the Library for your use.
A student meeting room is also available for small group work. A DVD and video player are also available in this room.
