Live work constitutes an integral part of South West Institute of Technology training where job skills and competence play a vital role in delivering students that are productive in the workplace.  Through live training in the fields of hospitality, hairdressing and beauty therapy we are able to equip students to meet and exceed the demands of the service interface they will ultimately deal with in a typical work environment.

Our custom built facilities, including fully equipped commercial kitchens, a training restaurant, and bar enables hospitality students to be trained in the day to day  practicalities of the industry, provides a virtual experience of the cut and thrust of working in busy restaurants or cafés and underscores the importance of the acquisition and development of excellent foundation skills that enable graduates to participate as valuable team members in any establishment in which they are employed.

Our beauty and hairdressing salons afford apprentice hairdressers and beauty therapy trainees similar opportunities to hone their skills in personal grooming treatments whilst under the supervision of qualified lecturers.

The live work, undertaken by our students enables them to gain not only invaluable skills but also build their confidence and expertise in dealing with customers from all walks of life.
