Working with Children Checks

As part of employment with the South West Institute of Technology, employees in positions identified by the Istitute as having significant engagement with minors as defined by legislation are required to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (WCC).  This check applies to designated positions, in particular to lecturers and front line support staff.

Criminal Screening

All persons considering undertaking casual or fixed term contract employment with South West Institute of Technology (including “one-off” casual appointments) must complete a Confidential Employee Declaration. This relates to teaching, clerical and ancillary duties. If employment is other than “one off” then full screening consent will need to be completed as well.

Permanent employees must undergo a full criminal history record check.  This cannot be done without your consent.  To enable the Department of Education to conduct this check, staff need to complete the “Consent to Obtain Personal Information” form.
